Losing my religion

Its indeed true I feel..
my first memory of watching a cricket match goes back to the India Vs sri lanka series in 94. It was a team of Manjrekars and Siddhus. It was a team full of glorious history, led by kapil dev but no future.
I guess Mongia made debut in that match.. But as it is for many matches that followed for a long time in Indian Cricket, the memorable part was always either sachin getting 142 or Kumble taking 10 wickets in an innings
( as was the case with that match )
At age of 9 perhaps I didnt care what cricket was.
But had it not been for that feeling of joy after winning against a country in some random sport, at some random place I would have never started watching cricket.
Off course winning was not so frequent in Indian cricket. Yes I agree, at 8 hrs a day, cricket is a very boring game but then so is F1 for many others :D
And for those who feel cricket is their religion and Sachin is 'the' god, even India-Kenya is Haridwaar.
I wonder If recorded replays and highlights would be enough for future generations to believe that there existed a tiny little modest cricketer who worshiped the game.
Losing my religion aint I? :D
